Note: We are temporarily not recruiting new research assistants for the time being. Please check back for any updates!
At this point in time, I do not currently have funding for paid research assistants. I do occasionally accept students who are keen to work with my lab on a voluntary basis, though this is dependent on whether there are specific needs for specific projects that are ongoing at that point of time. Examples of roles that voluntary RAs can take on include literature reviews, setting up surveys on Qualtrics, data cleaning and analysis, data collection (online or in-person), manuscript-writing, and so on. As an approximate guide, we hope voluntary RAs can try to dedicate about 10 hours a week to their work with the lab. Assigned tasks can generally be done flexibly at your own scheduling and remotely, though we need you to be available during office hours on weekdays for meetings and/or certain specific tasks such as in-person data collection, if applicable.
Even for voluntary RAs, I do still maintain high expectations in terms of the meticulousness and the quality of work—our work goes into actual research, and this requires the same level of rigour regardless of whether you’re an undergraduate or graduate. Nevertheless, I fully recognise that undergraduate volunteer RAs are not necessarily experts but are in the process of learning, and I’m more than happy to try to support that process of learning! I also acknowledge that it is a voluntary role, and hence will try not to put too much on you (but please communicate with me if it does get too much).
